This palace stands on part of the site of the Roman theatre of Florence built in the 1st century. Vasari blessed this hall with a double grand staircase which ascends to the immense Salone dei Cinquecento built by Cronaca in 1495 for the meeting of the Consiglio Maggiore of the Republic.
